Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess introduced the new Golf 8 at the Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg, Germany. The model has 5 hybrid options, three of which are light and two are plug-in, among 11 different engine options. The width, height and wheelbase values of Golf 8, whose length was increased to 4284 mm, were announced as 1789, 1456 and 2636 mm, respectively. The most noticeable change in the New Golf was on the front. It is equipped with thinner headlight and thin front grille compared to its old version.

The new Golf 8 will be available with the engine options used in Golf 7. The 1.0lt turbo TSI engines have 90 or 110 horsepower. The 1.5lt petrol turbo TSI engines will offer 130 and 150 horsepower, respectively. 1.5 or 2.0lt in diesel engines. TDI options are left to users’ choice. Volkswagen, which gave up analog indicators in the new generation, uses the ID3 system it introduced in Frankfurt last summer. Moreover, it is stated that this digital change will not add anything to the price of the vehicle.

Adopting the Innovision Cockpit layout we know from Touareg, the Golf 8 comes in a monolithic shape with a 10.25-inch digital dashboard and 8.25-inch multimedia display. Headlight controls that are carried to the top of the panel are also designed to be touch-sensitive. Front and rear window heating settings can also be made from the same section. In Golf, which comes with manual gear as standard, the gear lever of the DSG versions has been considerably downsized and has a stylish design.

Working at speeds up to 210 km / h, Travel Assist takes over the brake and throttle functions. Another great innovation is that the Golf 8 users will be able to add adaptive cruise control, Light Assist, headlight controls, navigation, smartphone connection and Wi-Fi hotspot to their vehicles afterwards, thanks to the We Upgrade feature.

Along with the new Golf, the hardware levels called Trendline, Comfortline and Highline will now be called Golf, Life and Style. In entry-level Golf, LED headlights, LED stops, keyless start, digital instrument panel, 8.25 “sized infotainment display, automatic air conditioning, lane tracking assistant, front zone assistant, pedestrian protection system will come as standard.

The Life option includes equipment such as wireless charging, 10-color ambiance lighting, forearms, Park Pilot and City Light. In the top version Style, there are extras such as electric sports seats on the driver’s side, 32-color ambiance lighting, leather steering wheel, LED headlights with corner turning feature, LED stops with sliding signal lights, 3-zone air conditioning, Travel Assist.
