Under the hood of the new Caddy will be 2.0-liter TDI and 1.4-liter TSI engines. The TDI engine will have two versions that produce 75 and 116 HP power and can be the world’s cleanest diesel thanks to the dual SCR catalyst and dual Adblue spray. The most important innovation of the 5th generation Caddy is that it has a modern VW architecture called MQB. This infrastructure is used in all VW passenger cars and has brought a lot to Caddy. The current generation has a leaf spring fixed rear axle. The vehicle will have the generation torsion bar and coil spring suspension system. This innovation is sufficient for comfortable driving that Caddy will need. Apart from this, the dimensions of the vehicle also increased: its height increased by 10 cm and reached 4.50 meters. The wheelbase increased by 7 cm and extended to 2.76 meters. According to VW’s claim, Caddy’s cargo area has become suitable for loading Euro pallets.

It was a surprise that VW used the cockpit of the Golf 8 for Caddy with minor modifications, but this is the Golf 8 cockpit we already know. The overall shape of the cockpit looks stylish. Touch buttons from golf may not be the best choice for a commercial vehicle, but this has simplified the structure of the cockpit. The central display, which can be selected as 6.5 inch or 10.2 inch, is home to a control system where all vehicle settings can be made by touch. In this way, the number of buttons in the Caddy cockpit will be very low. Next to this screen, the digital dashboard was taken from passenger VW models and applied to Caddy. It is not difficult to guess that the 10.2-inch LED display will be available as an option. Finally, Caddy is also up to date on electronic auxiliary systems.
