With Aston Martin teasing several new mid-engined supercars at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, it’s easy to forget the front-engined GT’s they are well known for. The brings us onto the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante, the brands fastest ever open top car. Featuring a 5.2L twin turbocharged V12 pumping out 725 PS (533 kW) of power at 6,500 rpm and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque between 1,800 and 5,000 rpm.

Folding fabric roof is the same version used in the DB11 Volante, as well as the VH-II aluminium architecture under the skin. Weight has been raised over the hard top DBS Superleggera up 170 kilograms which reduces the 0-62 mph acceleration time by 0.2 seconds to 3.6 seconds. 0-100 mph in achieved in 6.7 seconds, and despite the weight gain, the top speed remains the same at 211 mph.

Volante is a name that can only be attributed to convertible cars bearing the iconic Aston Martin wings badge, and thus the defining feature of any Volante is its roof. An advanced fabric system allows for an innovative and beautiful formed flowing roof line. Incorporating eight layers of insulation materials and acoustically enhancing materials, the canopy greatly improves the comfort of the interior cabin for all occupants when up, but allows a true orchestra of sound to pour into the cabin when retracted.
