2019 Hyundai i30 Fastback N

Hyundai’s excellent first hot hatch now has a longer sleeker version called the Hyundai i30 Fastback N. The new model joins the hatchback variant launched in 2018, with the fastback set to go on sale for the 2019 model year. The extra length is all located behind the rear axle, shifting the car weight distribution. Hyundai have made some suspension changes to combat this, with a slackened-off front axle, which could combine to make the i30 Fastback N even more engaging.

Like it’s hatch brother the i30 Fastback N will be available in two power levels, with the turbocharged 2.0L inline 4 engine delivering either 250 PS or 275 PS for the Performance model. The lower spec is good for 0-100 kph in 6.4 seconds, while the higher spec version will get it done in 6.1 seconds. Torque is rated at 353 Nm, with an overboost function available that temporarily increases that torque figure up to 378 Nm for short bursts.

Owners of the Performance model of the i30 Fastback N will enjoy some extra goodies like an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, performance exhaust, and 19-inch wheels wrapped with Pirelli P Zero rubber.
