2017 Tesla Model S P100D

Sitting atop the Tesla Model S food chain is the P100D, which Tesla Motors has fitted a 100kWh battery pack which is the largest to date. This bigger battery obviously results in an increased driving range of 315 miles per full charge, enough to satisfy a lot of motorists needs as a daily driver. That extra range is 15 miles more than the previous top model the Model S P90D.

Other benefits come in the form of performance, with the P100D capable of launching from 0-60mph in a staggering 2.28 seconds whilst in ludicrous mode. This makes the Tesla Model S the fastest accelerating sedan in the world for 2017, able to out drag every supercar on the road. The downside to this is the wait time required as the cars computer calculates the optimal conditions for the battery pack to cope with the power delivery required. This usually involves warming up the battery pack and needing a charge above 90% capacity. This limits the use of ludicrous mode to only a few runs at a time, and makes it difficult to use on the road.
